You have to look it up but there is a legal window within which the security must be returned. It is mos def less than three months. So now you have to type up a letter saying that you have photographs of the apartment from when you moved in (if you don't, you can claim you can't find them later if he calls you on it) that show that the cupboards were scuffed. Add that you cleaned the refrigerator and ask for the immediate return of your deposit and a written, itemized list of any damages that are being deducted.

According to the tenant net fact sheet (http://www.tenant.net/faq.txt) the State Atty General's office will help you get the deposit back. Start by writing to him immediately and call the AG's office to find out what they can do to help.
