I live in Suffolk County NY. I'm not sure how to get back my security without it costing me a fortune. I moved out in October and still haven't gotten anything yet. I've been calling him and leaving him messages, We ask him if there is something wrong and he said no, the check will be in the mail this week. well this week has turned into 3 months and I went to his house asking him where it is, He then told me, well I haven't been emotionally well, and there are a few things I need to deduct from the security, he was saying that the refrigerator wasn,t cleaned out and the bottom of the cabinets were worn. I know I cleaned the frig and I know the cabinets were worn before I moved in there. When he told me he would send me a check and and the itemized deductions, I told him to make sure that the interest of my security for the past 5 years were also on there too. he said wellnow i'll just make up more and that I went beyond my security.Now my question is, How do I prove that they were or weren't and is there a certain time frame which the landlord has to give back my security or give a reason why I wouldn't be getting it back?
