My LL wants to raise my rent by $500. Live in a legal 2famil, on monthly basis. He also requires that I increase my security deposit to equal one months rent. How much time can I legally have before I have to pay the security deposit difference? this may be a little tight to do. Any advice on how to handle LL without getting evicted? Can I ask him to start making some improvements to the place in light of this increase? new tiles, paint, etc.
