from the response to craig root's question about living in an illegal basement unit: I followed that link to FAQ from Queens borough president and read that the LL cannot collect rent from ANY tenants in a two famliy illegally converted to a 3+

I am vacating such an apartment (the legal one, but according to that link it makes no difference) this month and wonder if I could get the money I have paid the LL (18,700) back? If so, any lawyer referrals?
