If there was a keep your apartment and magically solve all its problems, it would have happened sometime in the past 8 years you've been there. You accepted the buyout for a reason. It's common to have second thoughts just before a big decision or move - just face your fears and get on with it. You're also moving at a great time - vacancies are increasing and there are some real bargains, especially downtown.
