the op is in orlando, fl, and rent control does not exist there (or i haven't heard of it). you are on a yearly lease, and the landlord has no obligation to renew your lease. he can simply not renew the lease for no reason, however he told you the reason, and you now have a choice, dump the dog, or move. sorry, but that's life in the rest of the world.
