Why is he now moving to evict you? And no, handing a minor child the
papers is not proper service. On the INS thing, hey-all's fair in love and war. But does the eviction have anything to do with the repairs? Since LL has taken it upon himself to try to evict you after you have improved his property, I say you use all the weapons you've got in your arsenal to protect your family.
You must show up in court and move to dismess for lack of proper service. Did you have anything in writing about being allowed to make the repairs? Why is LL evicting you? If LL is illegal: Perhaps you say to your LL: I won't check on your immigration status if you drop the case and give us a lease. Like I said, use what you've got.
