Two issues:
1. First this is an absurd bill. Take her to small claims. First, see if you can clain treble damages.
2. The damage was outside your apartment, in an area outside your control. If you denied causing the damage, the ridiculous bill would help you because it hurts the LL's credibility.
You have a reasonable chance to get the whole thing back, plus treble damages if permitted by law.

: in a nutshell, i just moved out of my apt, and my LL kept 1025 of 1400 to paint the hallways, its a 2 floor bldng, she said my bike marked up the walls (true but not excessive) so she charged my 1025 and sent me a very suspectlooking invoice with the check, it looks like she made it herself..
: so what am i responsible for? seems like maintaining the public spaces falls squarely on her..
