housing court judges

Posted by Rayner Colton on November 14, 2001 at 17:00:32:

When a person acts as a judge, and said person owns rental property, or any one close to that judge ownn rental property the judge is by deffinition biased and ofter corrupt. The majority of people living in NYC still are tenants. We should get together and as citizens demand that all judges may not own rental property. In addition the fact that housing court does not use a jury is a serious form of corruption.
On a seperate issue. I believe it is long past time tenants be allowed to deduct rent from their income taxes. As such I am circulating the following pettion. I hope you will allow all members to see it and if they agree send copies to their congressional representatives.
A petition to congress.
As congress continues to debate tax cuts account must be taken of the fact that the middle class still pays the majority of income taxes. A great many tax paying citizens are residents of cities and towns, and many of these are renters. As the tax code is now written any business can write off rents. Those citizens who live in apartments can not. This is discrimination. In addition it is economically unsound. When one has more money one can do a number of intelligent things with the cash, including, spend it, save it, or invest it. All of those options help money circulate and therefore build wealth.
As taxpayers we are petitioning congress to add the right to deduct apartment rents when calculating and paying federal income taxes.
Please send one signed copy to each of your senators at their Washington DC office, and one copy to your congressional representative in Washington.
To check your representatives http://legislators.com/congressorg2/main.html or the telephone book..
