turning over apartment without notice

Posted by Jan on November 13, 2001 at 21:25:57:

My boyfriend's ex-wife and kids lived in an apartment here in Wis. Her boyfriend spent occasional nights there, they were seeing each other for a few monthes. She recently died in a car accident, so the boyfriend went to the landlord and changed everything into his name without telling anyone. My boyfriend is moving back there to take care of his kids since they are only 14 and 17 years old. This guy will not move out and we are worried about getting their things out, since everything in there now belongs to those 2 girls. The landlord says they would like the 2 guys to work something out and will not make this guy leave. The lease was in their mother's name, so I guess I am asking is this legal to let another person change this into his name, which also included a security deposit, while these girls are still living there until their dad comes? What are the dad's rights on this?
