Check with the Fire Department. I don't think you or the LL is allowed to have anything on fire escapes.

: This is admittedly somewhat of a frivolous issue but anyways.My landlord has posted an advertisement panel on the fire escape in front of my window and it's obstructing my view of the street. I called him to complain and he got hostile and threatened to evict me. To be fair, I was hostile first and threatened to take the sign
