If Pataki is reelected, rent laws are toast...

He tried to let Bruno do it the last time, but was one year away from a reelection campaign, so he wimped out. However if he wins in 2002, he'll have over 3 years from the time the rent laws expire before his next election (either for Governor again or Senate againt Clinton). This means that by the time he'd have to face the voters again, the death of rent regulation would be ancient history. And he doesnt get much support from the city anyway.
