I would like to think that the easiest way forward would be to approach the contractors representative on site(ask the workers who is in charge?)and explain your complaint to him/her.If they are unhelpful then think about small claims court.
It may prove useful to take some Photographs now,any damage,any equipment or scaffolding and most importantly any company signs to prove who is working there.
I would hope that if you are reasonable that they would be reasonable in return.Good luck
