You should answer in writing to explain your side and to be able to
prove that you did try to sort it out before it ended up in court. If
you refuse to leave then they need to get an eviction through the
courts where you will be able to defend yourself. Sure you can sue for
a personal injury, but you should phone the housing court to check
that it is a matter that housing court could accept. They may not be
able to hear a personal injury claim, but they probably could if it is
not for a large amount. Once you receive the court notice dealing with
their damages against you, the court will allow you to file a counter
claim against them.
