Room or apartment??

Posted by Artie on October 18, 2001 at 12:27:08:

I previously posted a message inquiring about the status change of my apartment, on my lease. I have lived in what I thought was a rent-stabilized apartment in Brooklyn, for 6 years now. As my lease expired, and I signed another, I noticed that the word apartment had been changed to 'room' all over the lease. I questioned this, and the landlord explained that the apartments are now being called rooms. Where can I find this change of status, to whom the landlord reported these changes? And, how does it affect my rent charges? The rent has been increased, as my last lease and this lease are 2(two) year leases. I was unaware that a lease needed to be signed for a room. Please reply with any and all advise and information.
