i think I messed up on the post reply to this. my apology. anyhow, if you were paying only half the rent int he west village for a 2 br, then the rent would be 1600 per month and that would sound like a real bargain to me. what your roomate is paying really is not the issue. if you agreed to pay 800 per month, whether by lease or month to month agreement, then that is your deal. your other choice would have been to keep looking and find something else. if your roomate is subletting, and your lease is with her, she is entitled to make the best deal possible. so, if you agreed to the 800 per month, then thats your fair rent and it cant be changed because you think she is paying less. thats my opinion
