Why didnt you have renters insurance? It would have paid for your loss PLUS paid for your living expenses, and then when the apartment was fixed, you as a rent Stabilized tenat would have the legal right to re occupy the apartment at the last rent.

: Everything was ruined, possessions, etc. Not just ruined, but charred. It is now two years later. Can landlord be sued to cover moving costs, broker fees, etc., as it was his fault. If so, do you have to send him any notice prior to taking him to civil court?
