: I am currently subletting a NON-rent stabilized apartment in New York City, but recently found out that the prime tenant is charging us almost twice what his rent to the landlord. I read on this board that in rent-stabilized situations the prime tenant needs to refund/repay the subtenant, but is that also true for non-rent stabilized apartments? If so, how should I go about it?
: Thanks!

first things first: do all the research and be very sure that the apartment is not supposed to be stabilized before you give up.

how to? topic covered zillion times here. 'search' and ye shall find.
