You're missing the point. You agreed to be out by a certain date, the landlord wants you out by that date. The fact that a closing has been delayed, that a motel is expensive, or what the cost of a Uhaul is are your problems, not the landlord's.

But obviously there are more problems going on here than just needing a couple of extra days to move out. Hope you had a lawyer go over very carefully the ownership of the house. Hope you and your ex wife know where who will go where when you have a fight. Really, you have some serious issues to deal with, the least of which is real estate. Hope you can get things worked out soon. Best of luck to you.
