: This item appears in Today's News Update in the July 30th online edition of the New York Law Journal:

: Brooklyn Housing Court Judge Gerald Bank has reportedly resigned after being disapproved for a sixth five-year term by the Judiciary Committee of the City Bar. A source said both tenants' and landlords' lawyers had criticized Judge Bank for a lackluster performance. In response to an inquiry, Mai Yee, a spokeswoman for the Office of Court Administration, said Judge Bank, 65, has resigned, effective Aug. 31. Judge Bank, first appointed to a three-year term in 1973, has spent his entire 28-year career on the Housing Court.
