Unless your lease provides for releasing you from the lease if you die....i dunno...Considering your liability would only be 2 months, not too much to lose if you lose anything. So you give your 30 days notice; LL is obliged to make efforts to re-rent the apt, he can't just simply sit on his hands thinking he'll collect the last two months from you - he has to make a bonafide effort to locate a new tenant. Cover yourself and try to find a replacement tenant on your own.
