fire escape

Posted by Dot B. on July 17, 2001 at 08:54:18:

My landlord just called me to tell me I have to remove the rainbow flag hanging on my fire escape. He says it's illegal, a violation, etc. I pointed out that it doesn't impeded access to the fire escape in any way. He said I could hang it out the window instead.

The question is: Is he right? Or is the bottom-feeder of capitalist scourge lying to be again?

As you might infer, my esteem for him is none too high, and we've had ample negative experiences with him in this building (rent-stabilized, five units in Bklyn). If it were an American flag I'd be less skeptical. Call me paranoid, but I've been called dyke on the street one too many times to not wonder. Especially since he never said anything about the elaborate Christmas decorations I had up for six weeks.
