lease expires, landlord wants to throw me away.

Posted by Sergey Sankov on July 12, 2001 at 18:29:15:

I am sharing an apartment with my roommate. Only his name is on the lease. Lease expires 07/31/01. We paid July rent already. My roommate has to relocate quickly because of family reasons. I was hoping to extend lease on my name, but landlord said that he have people for this apartment, although we didn't tell him before about my roommate plans. Landlord didn't send us no lease extension, no notice to move out. But when we spoke to him he said that he will throw my stuff out after lease expires. And it doesn't look like he has an intention to return the deposit. What rules and laws are there about this situation? What sould I do?
