We HATE the situation we are in and we have been looking. But we were not willing to compromise the health and safety of our 4 month old child while we looked for a place to go.

I don't see how we can be expected to pay double rent while we look for another place to go if we have proof that the whole reason we are being asked to leave is because we asked the landlord to correct city housing code violations and if we have been paying our rent religiously (and have cancelled checks to prove it). Is there a way to "buy more time" via the courts in case it takes us longer than 30 days to move out?
