We recently began a month to month policy after a year lease. The landlord's wife said she was moving in in September due to her and her husbands separation. She said if we don't sign a lease by then, she is moving in and kicking us out. My first question is is this legal? Does this depend on which party was named on the lease contract? My second question is I noticed the comment on raised rent. We currently pay for gas and electric. Can they unjustifiably raise the rent?
