: Hi. I live in a non rent stabilized building and I am the only person on the lease. I am wondering if my landlord can prevent my fiance from moving in with me. I didn't intent to put her on the lease, though I suppose I could if it is necessary. Is there any law that speaks to this?

: Thanks in advance.

Landlord cannot do a darn thing, if this is in NY state. Type the words 'roommate law' into that little white box marked SEARCH on this page or on the homepage tenant.net
Or look it up in the New York Tenant section on the homepage.
