Major Capital Improvements

Posted by Teddy on June 22, 2001 at 14:50:59:

I have lived in a one bedroom rent stabilized 23 story building since 1984.
I just got hit with another MCI increase of $80 a month.
$60 which is retro from 1992, and $20 rolled into my rent. This is our 7th mci increase in 12 years. The mci increases have been for windows ,
heaters, loud air conditioners, roof repair, boilers, parapet etc..
I have renewed a two year lease since "86. However, my rent has almost doubled from $928 to $1,800.
Is there a limit to how many times a landlord can keep charging tenants
for mci improvements? I also noticed the retro mci increase is never on the lease or the DHR renewel slip. When the board decided to increase our rents were MCI increases ever brought up
Thank you to anyone who can shed some light on this subject.
