Mayor Giuliani's Rent Guidelines Board will vote on rent increases for rent stabilized tenants on Wednesday, June 20th. The guidelines they set will affect all rent stabilized tenants who begin or renew leases between October 1, 2001 and September 30, 2002.
Tenants must speak out and show up in large numbers to ensure the lowest increases possible in the coming year. The RGB voted for 3 and 5 % increases and the $15 a month "poor tax" (on all apartments renting for $500 or less) during its "preliminary vote" in May.
