HELP!!! BEING EVICTED

Posted by Renee on June 11, 2001 at 10:10:18:

I was subleasing a co-op in Brooklyn. The owner decided to sell the co-op after my lease expired in Nov 2000. Owner informed me verbally that she still didn't have a buyer and that we could stay in the apartment month to month. Found out in March that the bank was foreclosing on her co-op for failure to pay her mortgage and maintence. The co-op went up for auction in the beginning of March with no buyers, so now the bank owns it. I received the notice of petition to recover a dwelling unit pursuant to RPAPL 713 and am scheduled to appear before the court on the 21st of this month for the eviction proceedings.

My question is, what are my rights? How much time do I have if the court rules in the Bank's favor to evict me? I am a single mom with two boys aged 8 and 4. Help.
