I'm in Fremont, California.

Project Sentinel....Project Sentinel serves Northern California. It offers information about rights, provides landlord/tenant mediation, and investigates allegations of housing discrimination.

How would the increase in rent for a rental unit you already reside in be discriminatory? Obviously, if they have a history with you as a resident, they are not basing their decision on your outward appearance - rather, it is on their experience with you as an actual tenant.
