As a landlord of a historic home, I don't allow air conditioners in the front windows because it looks ugly and I don't allow them in windows where the condensation can fall onto the stairs and create a slippery situation. That has meant my tenant couldn't install hers in the living room. But my tenant has a child with allergies, so we worked out an arrangement that works for both of us. Find out what your landlord's real objection is and see if you can work it out.
