actually, i'm pretty sure the LL is right on this one. you are living on his property; he is the ultimate owner of the place you keep all your stuff in. he should have had copies made before you moved in, that's the only strange part. ask him to reimburse you for the cost of copying the keys so you won't be out any cash. with any luck he'll put the keys away and never use them until you move out.
