Brokers, why landlord might avoid

Owners would avoid a broker for the same reasons tenants would. A few brokers are unscrupulous, and owners have been burned just as tenants have. Other owners may feel that avoiding a broker and the associated fees gives them access to a wider range of tenants or lets them ask a slightly higher rent, since the tenant would pay no fee up front.

Still other owners, mostly of small properties, just prefer to do things themselves.
