He is accusing me of messing up the walls. He claims that enough damage was done to the walls to require replacement of the paneling.

Why would he give you your money back so quickly if there were damages?
I don't know why! We did a walk through, and he was satisified. Later after writing the check, He claimed he couldn't see because the apartment was dark. However, the blinds were open and it was a sunny day. The power was still on! The breakers had been turned off. I asked him during the walk through if he wanted the breakers turned on, and he said no.

Nothing has been done in writing except the check. I was very stupid. This was the first place I've rented since being divorced. I lived there for 6 years. He seemed like a nice person. So, I am shocked that this is happening.

I'll check into NC laws. Thank you.
