What is he accusing you of? He must send you something in writing listing damages. You should have a move-in check list to compare that to. He needs documentation. Why would he give you your money back so quickly if there were damages? Some info is missing here so its hard to determine what your next action should be, but generally, I would say find NC laws on the web and read the provisions that will apply to you .. security deposit laws, requirement for checklist, notification, etc.
