No, people don't think you're a bastard for asking--they just don't have the answer, straight or otherwise. You're going to have to find out by suing.
Besides, you shouldn't rely 100% on answers here.
Even if someone said "no, they won't enforce the rules," you'd have nothing to lose by suing.
Why not sue, and post here what the outcome is?
