Dialing DHCR

Posted by John Q. Public III on March 31, 2001 at 18:03:45:

Anybody else having trouble getting through to the DHCR rent info line? I tried several times this week, and kept getting a message that repairs might cause delays until March 16 (two weeks ago) followed by a busy signal. Finally, I called the commissioner's office to complain, and they had some extremely helpful person from the rent info office call me back with what I needed.

If you need to call them this week, I suggest starting with the usual number, (718) 739-6400. If that doesn't work, call (212) 480-6732 and ask for the commissioner's office. Maybe if enough people call, they'll fix their phone system. Calling your DHCR borough office might work too (on their web site or in your phone book's NY state listings under Housing and Community Renewal.)
