Exactly what is the problem ?

No one is required (or even allowed) to tell you the personal financial status of other tenants in a building or who is receiving a government subsidy or not.

I think if you had made a good inspection of the apartment and its surrounding neighborhood, any "socioeconomic consequences" (whatever you mean by that) would have been apparent.

In any case, you made a decision, you know what Section 8 does to a building, so next time, be more careful, look and ask questions.
