Did you have a written agreement with HIM (not LL)?

Unless you had a written roommate agreement with your now ex-roommate, I doubt YOU can go after him. His liability is to the landlord. If the rent doesn't get paid, the LL can go after both him and you for the rent. BTW it's likely that both of you are responsible for the whole rent, not just half each. What this means, is that if the LL can find and sue you, but can't find your roommate, hell go after you for the entire rent due.

The moral of the story, go out and find a new roommate, and get an agreement with him in writing.

: I had a roomate who only paid the first 2 months rent then moved out with no warning. I came home to an empty room. He is on the lease, can I take him to court for not paying the rest of the lease and bills??
