Sometimes the term month to month is a misnomer...it means a periodic tenancy where rent is paid by a specific time period - usually by the month. If, however, your lease requires 60 days written notice to terminate your tenancy, that is what you should give and pay for. Under a lease you paid rent by the month; likewise, you would also pay by the month under a periodic/month to month tenancy.
