14th Annual Co-op and Condo Expo
02/04/01
How to comply with recent fire code regulations that require residential buildings to prepare fire safety plans and how to safeguard buildings from corrupt vendors are among the subjects to be tackled on Thursday at the New York Hilton at the 14th annual Co-op and Condo Expo, sponsored by The Cooperator, a monthly publication.
The topics of the seminars, to be held between 9:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., are: "New Fire Code Regulations: Protect Your Building From Disaster"; "Buying a Co-op or Condo Online: The Role of the Internet in Real Estate"; "Preventing Fraud and Kickbacks: Keep Your Board and Professionals Honest"; and "Get Wired: How to High-Tech Your Building."
In addition, 182 exhibitors ranging from management firms to fuel oil providers will have booths, and accountants, mortgage brokers, architects, engineers and lawyers will offer free advice.
"I think New York City board members, shareholders and real estate professionals are increasingly sophisticated about their properties and will seek out a variety of solutions to the problems they face in the day-to-day operation of the buildings," said Henry Robbins, executive vice president of Yale Robbins, publisher of The Cooperator. Advance registration by phone — (888) 249-0367 — or online, www.coopexpo.com, is required. Admission is free.
