Where do you live? Also, I guess I am confused, were you actually added to the lease meaning you signed a legal document with the landlord. If so you are a tenant and therefor he should take your check (assuming he takes personal checks at all... some landlords don't). If you were not actually added to the lease then the landlord might be trying to make sure there is no paper trail indicating that he agreed for you to live there under the belief that he can evict you easier that way if he ever had to.


: my landlord will not accept my personal checks. i live with my brother and was added on the lease this year. the landlord said that since i am not the tenant, he cannot accept my check. anyone please advise.
