In justifying a rent increase for our apartment, our landlord quoted expenses of over $27000 in apartment renovations, including $18200 for removing and replacing the oak floor and plywood subfloor.
Now I'm not a construction expert, but it seems that there must have been a mistake here. The total area of our floor (in three rooms) is 450 square feet.
Would a landlord really pay $40 a square foot for floor work ?
