To those asking questions: Experienced tenants and attorneys frequenting this message board may be willing to help with their knowledge. In asking questions, please provide the following: your city/location, if you are rent stabilized/controlled, coop/condo or under any form of regulation or subsidy, lease status, units in building and when it was built.

: I live in a private house whose landlord has illegally converted her basement into two rental units with shared kitchen and bath. I rent one basement room and the other is unoccupied. She wants me out immediately. What should I do? Can she evict me without qritten notice?

: i havent paid rent since Nov 2000. She has threatened to change the locks and toss my things out. What legal remedies do i have?
