In Reply to: Can landlord ask for roommate's SSN? posted by SAM on January 17, 2001 at 14:03:23:
: I live in a rent-stablized apartment. My landlord wants the name and Social Security # of my new roommate (who isn't on the lease). I know I'm supposed to provide the name, but the #? Please advise.
NO. Unless you're adding him to the lease...
RPL 235-f rules: mail him a copy!
5. The tenant shall inform the landlord of the name of any
occupant within thirty days following the commencement of
occupancy by such person or within thirty days following a
request by the landlord.
See, Dawn: no SSN in the law.
