Because she was trying to be helpful and reasonable, so don't snipe. Sometimes it may be better to deal with reality than fight for years over the law. But on the other hand, if you are stabilized, do not follow her advice as the act of replacing the landlord's refrigerator could put your tenancy in jeapordy. The LL could seek your eviction if you do this. Look at Housing Court Decisions for case law on this issue.

: As for your "advice"... who's going to pay for this refrigerator that you suggest I go out and buy? Your suggestion is useless and what's it to you how long I stay where I live????
