I don't have an answer for you - but from reading these posts, life in NY seems so darned involved and overwhelming!!! Move to the midwest. You look at a place. Like it. Fill out an app. You're approved. Pay your rent and move in. All I have to say is that there must be a lot of lawyers in NY and too many legislators making too many laws!! A tenant would need a legal degree just to understand the rental laws!!!
