Reporting a broker

Posted by Martha on December 20, 2000 at 17:36:47:

In November my husband went to a broker at Century 21 on Woodhaven Blvd in Queens. We were looking for an apartment and he spoke to the apartment broker. She showed him an apartment that day and told him if he like the apartment to give her a two hundred dollar deposit to hold the apartment. After all the paperwork and meeting the landlord the apartment never came through, however, in the meantime we work with another broker at another agency and found apartment.

Needless, to say my husband and I have called and visited her office several times to get our deposit back and to no avail. She refuses to return our messages and to make matter worse the receptionist has been very curt and short with us. As if we owe her money.

My question is what agencies can I report this broker and her establishment to and how can I get me deposit back without losing my temper?
