Rights as an occupant

What are my rights as an occupant in an NYC apartment? I have lived there for 3+ years through 2 different leases with various leasees. The Con-Edison bill has been in my name for over a year, and the Time Warner bill is in my name (if that matters). I'm asking because the landlord is messing around with the guys who are supposed to be signing a new lease and threatening them with ripping up everything. He won't talk to me (not on the lease), but I'd like to know my rights -- if any...
