I can't really vouch for how useful this will be, but here's some info from the city Department of Housing Preservation and Development website. -- Chelsea

When apartments created under HPD’s affordable housing programs are ready to be rented they are advertised in both local and major newspapers. The apartments are also listed on HPD’s Affordable Housing Hotline.

There is also an on-line version of the Affordable Housing Hotline at:

(212) 863-5610 (English)
(212) 863-5620 (Spanish)
